Over the winter period, members of the Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club committee, particularly club secretary Terry Nigh have been working hard to secure funding for desperately needed new equipment for the club.
Many of the avenues explored have been successful, with the first project coming to fruition in the last month as the club acquired three brand new Concept 2 Rowing Ergometers thanks to funding from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation.
The grant gave us full funding for all three ergos that would have otherwise been a significant outlay for the club and thus allowed club funds to be directed towards other projects, such as the recently upgraded sewer pump.
The ergos join the existing five to make up a collection of eight machines that will allow squads to train together and allow land training sessions to have far more structure and opportunity.
The club would like to thank the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation for their support. Keep your eyes out in the coming months for further updates on our development projects as the club looks to continue forward and add further quality to our infrastructure.
