It is with considerable regret that Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club must report the death of David Wright.

David started his rowing career at the age of 16 with the Crowland Rowing Club on the River Lea in London where he rowed very successfully for many years. He and Hilary moved to Shanklin in 1970 and he joined Shanklin Sandown in 1976. He was a great asset to the Club serving on the committee for many years as a very active member and several spells as Secretary. His support for everything the Club did was 100% and he was currently one of the Vice Presidents. A really genuine gentleman who will be very sadly missed.

David's funeral will be at the Crematorium on Friday 5th May at 3.45pm and afterwards at the Rowing Club.

Only family flowers and any donations in his memory to Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club.

He will not be forgotten, especially by the old crocks who so enjoyed rowing with him until just a few years ago.

Terry Nigh Hon. Sec. SSRC
