The club took a large contingent to London last weekend for the British Rowing indoor championships. The event held at the Lee Valley Velodrome saw thirteen members take part, with Kayleigh Batchelor putting in a dominant performance to take the gold medal in the Yr9 Girls race. Riley Horrix finished just outside the medals in fourth spot, with crew mate Ethan Walters in 15th in their event, whilst club debutant, Jonjo Findlay recorded a new personal best for the 2k distance which secured him a top 30 finish. Carter Horrix, making his debut at this level of competition, finished in an excellent 7th place in the year 7 boys category.
Sophie Atkin and Lottie Tapsell both finished inside the top 30 in the sixth form girls event with the club’s other junior competitors, Roxy Browne, Rachael Debenham & Owen Denness all improving their finishing distances from previous events.
The club also had several of their Masters squad competing at the event for the first time, with Kevin Faithfull producing the best result of the day, finishing in 7th spot in a new personal best time.
Andrew Tapsell recorded a new PB for this event, whilst BRIC debutants, Jane Bailey & Garry Walters, both put in good performances.
