Shanklin Sandown rowing club travelled to Southampton for BTC’s regatta on Weston shore, the penultimate event of the Hants and Dorset season.
Daisy Faithfull secured the victory she needed to take the club’s second Hants and Dorset championship of the season, with another impressive row in typically coastal conditions.
The Ladies Senior pairs championship, and the club’s third for the season, was also put beyond doubt with a comfortable win for Daisy & Emily Faithfull, with clubmates, Kayleigh Batchelor and Yas Wright maintaining their 100% record for the season, with another comfortable win in the Ladies Junior pair, this after securing their championship last week.
Emily Faithfull also took the club’s fourth win of the regatta in the Ladies Junior sculls, ensuring the championship goes down to the last regatta of the season next week on the river Itchen
The boys J16 quad of Arlo Adds, Ben Smith, Fred Giemza-Pipe, Ollie Hatch & Jane Denby-Roach continued their impressive season with the club’s fifth win of the day, finishing three lengths ahead of the home club, with the crew also taking fourth spot in the men’s junior fours.
The Junior Ladies four of Alannah Denness, Abi Swinscoe, Beth Katirewa, Esme Walters and Yas Wright (cox) coped well in the worsening conditions to finish in fifth spot in their first race at this status after promotion at Poole last week.
