Ryde Regatta
Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club didn’t have far to travel for their next event, which was held at Appley Beach in Ryde, for Ryde rowing club’s annual Regatta. It was a day of success for the club, collecting 3 wins. First to take to the water was the Ladies Novice Four of Yasmin Wright, Lottie Tapsell, Mia Phelan, Sophie Atkin and Emily Faithfull (cox), and they had a good row to fend off a strong Poole crew and gain the win, and their long-awaited promotion from Novice Status. Next up was the Men’s Novice Four of Thomas Ashley, Kev Faithfull, Owen Denness, Andrew Tapsell and Emily Faithfull (cox). A recently established crew, the boys rowed well to come 7th in a strong field. After comfortably winning their heat, the Men’s Junior Four of George Glenister, Jamie Gamble, Riley Horrix, Ethan Walters and Emily Faithfull (cox) went on to storm the final, winning the event and are now subsequently leading by two points in the championship at this early stage in the season. The four boys then split into pairs for one of the last races of the day - the Men’s Junior Pairs. After a tight race, the pair of Ethan Walters and Riley Horrix were victorious, as Jamie Gamble and George Glenister finished 3rd after a battle with both the other Shanklin crew and a fast crew from Itchen Imperial.

The Men’s Junior Four of George Glenister, Jamie Gamble, Riley Horrix, Ethan Walters and Emily Faithfull (cox) replicated their good form from the previous two regattas.
