Shanklin Sandown rowing club had four crews compete at Newport regatta on Saturday with the ever improving Mens novice four of Kevin Faithfull, Sam Evans-Murray, Thomas Ashley, Andrew Tapsell & Daisy Faithfull come agonisingly close to securing their first win. The crew matched BTC stroke for stroke but just missed out by a canvas.
The novice Ladies four of, Scarlett Phelan, Zoe Bushby, Kayleigh Batchelor, Rachael Debenham, Yasmin Wright also secured the runners up spot and the Masters 50 crew of, Andrew Tapsell, Paul Gamble, Gary Burch, Garry Walters & Lottie Tapsell finished third with their best performance to date.

The Ladies junior four aquitted themselves well, but missed out on the final, after finishing behind the championship leaders Coalporters.
The club’s juniors then travelled up to Reading to compete at Thames Valley Park regatta. The event raced over a 500m course, saw Ethan Walters & Riley Horrix, both on the IW council gifted and talented program, secure another victory by winning the J15 double sculls, whilst Kayleigh Batchelor also continued her recent good form by winning the J14 single sculls, this after finishing second in a composite J14 double sculls crew with Florence Neller of Itchen Imperial.
The J16 double of Rachael Debenham & Yasmin Wright again showed great promise just missing out on a place in the final by half a length.
Lottie Tapsell also put in another good performance in the single scull but also narrowly missed out on a final position.
