Congratulations to Novice Mens Four!
Shanklin Sandown rowing club took a large entry to Southampton for the penultimate regatta of the coastal season.
The men’s novice four of Kevin Faithfull, Andrew Tapsell, Thomas Ashley, Owen Denness and Daisy Faithfull lead from the start and despite a late challenge from Poole secured the victory and with it promotion to Junior status.
Ethan Walters & Riley Horrix had a comfortable win in the Men’s junior pair’s race with Horrix also securing the runners up spot in the Novice sculls event with club mate Jamie Gamble third. Emily Faithfull coped well in the conditions to secure second place in the Ladies Junior sculls as did Kayleigh Batchelor who also finished second in the J16 sculls. The club also had three scullers competing in the final of the novice ladies sculls with Rachael Debenham the highest placed coming home in third.
Alex Robertson and Joe Evans-Murray returned to competitive action for the first time this season and gained a creditable fourth place in the senior pairs, with Robertson also finishing third in the senior sculls with Evans – Murray fourth, whilst the Ladies junior four of Roxy Browne, Sophie Atkin, Yasmin Wright, Rachael Debenham & Daisy Faithfull also took fourth place in their final, producing their best result this season.
