Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club have won joint first place at the Isle of Wight County Press ‘Community Action Awards for Volunteer Contributions to Local Groups’. They share this award with Shanklin Rifle and Pistol Club under the Sports category. The awards ceremony was held at the Riverside Centre on Friday evening (1st May). In addition to the certificate shown, and the honour of having our volunteers recognised for all their hard work and dedication, SSRC also received a cheque for £175.00. Chairman Terry Nigh said the following: ‘WELL DONE, IT IS ONLY BECAUSE OF YOUR EFFORTS AS VOLUNTEERS THAT WE WON THE AWARD AND ARE ABLE TO KEEP THE CLUB GOING SO SUCCESSFULLY.’ Well done Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club! May this award be the first of many.
