Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club sponsored by Advanced Automotive this year competed in the Annual BTC Rowing Regatta at Weston shore Woolston on Saturday 15th August.

The Mens Junior four crew of Jamie Gamble, Henry Gove, Jaimey Wain, Henry Mudge and cox Alex Robertson had an excellent start to the day when they won their qualifying heat for the finals in style beating second placed Itchen comfortably. However in the 6 boat Final later in the day were unable to repeat the earlier performance and missed out on a podium finish.

Alex Robertson competed in the Mens Senior Sculls 7 boat final where he also put up an excellent performance but took a 3rd place finish.

In the Mens Junior Sculls Final Joe Evans-Murray was looking for a points win over Newport's championship leader to draw level but both were outpaced by a BTC sculler leaving Joe to finish in second place half a length behind.

The Ladies Junior crew of Lisa Robertson, Hannah Cusworth, Amber De Landro, Daisy Faithfull and cox Alex Robertson were in the 7 boat final later in the day against crews from BTC, Poole and Itchen. They rowed well and had a good buoy turn at the half course distance but were unable to make a podium finish.

To end the day Shanklin entered a mixed crew for the Arthur Shergold Memorial trophy which needed two men and two ladies of different status to compete. The Shanklin crew of Joe Evans-Murray, Alex Robertson with Hannah Cusworth, Daisy Faithfull and cox Garry Walters put up an excellent performance against crews from Southampton, Ryde, and 3 crews from Southampton to cross the finish line in third place behind the winning Southampton crew.

Shanklin will be competing in the last 2015 Hants & Dorset Regatta on Saturday 22nd at the Coalporters Regatta on the Itchen river
