BTC hosted the 10th regatta of the HDARA season on Saturday at Weston Shore. Shanklin had 8 crews entered, all having great rows in the challenging conditions.

In the first Mens Novice Sculls heat, Jamie Gamble rowed well to finish 2nd, earning a place in the final. Joe Robertson was drawn in the 3rd and final heat where he came 4th, missing out on joining Jamie later on in the day where he finished 4th overall.

The Girls J16 four of Yasmin Wright, Lottie Tapsell, Mia Phelan, Sophie Atkin and Emily Faithfull (cox) competed in their largest field yet to finish 3rd behind Bournemouth and Lymington.

Alex Robertson and Joe Evans-Murray took to the water for the first time this season in the Mens Senior Pairs. Despite not having been in the boat together much, they had a strong row to finish 3rd in their final.

They both also competed in the Mens Senior Sculls where Alex earned a second place behind the championship leader from Itchen, however complications at the buoy turn saw Joe fall back into 4th place having previously been close to the leading pack.

Bass Andre had a great row in the Ladies Novice Sculls final and, despite the tough conditions, placed 2nd behind the winner from Poole.

In the last race of the day, the mixed four of Jamie Gamble, Sophie Atkin, Bass Andre, Joe Evans-Murray and Emily Faithfull (cox) finished a close 5th with little separating the first 5 crews.

Shanklin crews look forward to competing at the British Junior Championships and Southsea regatta this weekend.
